Galaxy Tab S3 Release Date, Specs

A new report suggests Samsung is prepping the launch the of the updated Galaxy Tab S3 at the upcoming MWC 2017 in Barcelona. So while the Korean manufacturer isn’t going to launch its new Galaxy S8 flagship phone at this year’s MWC, it is going to make its presence felt in one way or the other.

According to new report by South-Korean publication Naver News, Samsung will announce the upgraded version of its flagship Android tablet. If the report turns out to be true, it’ll mark the first update to the Galaxy Tab S after nearly a year and a half. The report also notes that Samsung will start sending media invites to its MWC 2017 event this week, to unveil its top-of-the-line Android flagship tablet at the event on February 26.

2017 Galaxy Tab S3: Specs and Features

The report further notes that the new Galaxy Tab S will get significant upgrades over its predecessor. The innards will feature massive upgrades such as a Snapdragon 820 processor bundled with 4GB of RAM. Also, it’s expected to run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.

Besides, the cameras will get overhauled with a 12MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, up from 8MP and 2MP found on the older Galaxy Tab S2 launched in2015.

The report also mentions there’ll be two versions of the Galaxy Tab S3 – an LTE model and a Wi-Fi model. It’ll also be slimmer than its predecessor, so it’s easier to carry around. Finally, the tablet is said to cost 700,000 South Korean won, which translates to around $600, around the same price at which Apple sells its iPad Pro. But it’s still unclear whether the Galaxy Tab S3 will be aimed at professionals, and compete against the likes of the Microsoft’s Surface Pro range or the Apple iPad Pro. Neither does the report mentions it ‘ll come bundled with accessories such as a keyboard or an S-Pen.

So far, we can expect a significant upgrade in specs with the upcoming Galaxy Tab S3. More importantly, Samsung could finally give its Galaxy Tab S range a much-needed overhaul.
