Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has updated its Fire Phone with glut of new features. The software update comes after six months from its release. The new update brings with it a number of new and smarter features and fixes most of the system bugs.
The new update lets text translation in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. In addition to this, there’s a new feature that can recognize 2,000 famous paintings. The camera department gets an overhaul, it adds the ‘best shot’ feature, which takes three photos and lets you select the best out of it. Additionally, the visual search feature is also updated.
Fire Phone was initially sold for $650, but by the holiday season the price dropped less than $230. Failed in the business, it was expected Amazon would quit the smartphone market, but the internal assertions doesn’t say so.
It is reported that Amazon will stick to the business in the new year, and launch the next Fire Phone – reportedly, Fire Phone 2 in 2016. The new phone will be a complete redesign with which the company is expected to correct all the mistakes it made in the first generation.
The company has admitted its mistake – the initial price tag – it made. To end up well in 2014, the company has dropped the price of Fire HD 7, Kindle, and Kindle Paperwhite to $114, $59 and $99 respectively.
