Microsoft has officially announced its next generation smartphone OS – Windows Phone 8 on 29th October. The new version of OS will bring new Windows Phone 8 powered smartphones in the market as the earlier Windows Phone 7 devices are not upgradable to Windows Phone 8.
Nokia, HTC, and Samsung are mainly in the race of launching Windows Phone 8 smartphones in the market. It is expected that Windows Phone 8 is going to be liked by consumers all over the world. The new feel, features, and unibody design of smartphones are already attracting the customers.
AT&T will offer Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 on its network, T-Mobile will be offering Lumia 810, and Verizon will offer Nokia Lumia 822 to its customers. All these new Lumia series smartphone features vivid screens, PureView camera, NFC, and poly carbonate bodies with bright colors like red, yellow, blue, black and white.
The Nokia Lumia 822, 820 and 810 offer a ClearBlack display and removable back exchangeable shells in a range of vibrant colors. Both the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 offer wireless charging as well.
Both AT&T and Verizon will offer HTC 8X Windows Phone 8 smartphone to their customers as well. The 8X by HTC is featuring 1.5 GHz Qualcomm‘s dual-core Krait Snapdragon S4 (MSM8960) processor, 1GB RAM, 4.3-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display, 4G LTE support, 16GB on-board internal storage (sorry no external card support), dual-band Wi-Fi, and a new sleek design with bright colors to match Windows Phone 8 Live Tiles.
The new 8 megapixel main camera with 1080p video recording, f2.0 aperture, led flash, and a dedicated HTC ImageChip gives you the best imaging experience. The new 2.1 megapixel camera with an ultra-wide-angle lens lets you fit up to four people in the frame for a premium Skype experience.
Pricing and Availability
Verizon Wireless will carry the Windows Phone 8X by HTC for $199.99 with a two-year contract, and the Nokia Lumia 822 for $99.99 with a two-year contract. Both will be available by Thanksgiving.
AT&T will carry the Nokia Lumia 920, the Lumia 820 and the Windows Phone 8X by HTC, all going on sale in November. AT&T will have more to share on prices in the coming weeks.
T-Mobile will carry the Windows Phone 8X by HTC starting at $149.996 for the 16GB version and the Nokia Lumia 810 from $99.99. T-Mobile customers will be able to purchase these Windows Phones on Nov. 14.
