Google Samsung Chromebook Price leads it to All-Time Best Notebook Seller list

Perseverance always succeeds and this lesson was learnt by both Google and Samsung with their Google Chromebook which has climbed to the top of the Amazon’s best seller list. After a 15 month struggle the Chromebook is finally reached the pinnacle of success and has pushed Apple’s 13 inch MacBook Pro to the second place.

The recently launched Google Chromebook emerged as the best notebook seller of all time on Amazon. Check out Samsung Chromebook on Amazon here.

The third position is occupied by the 3G Chromebook and is then followed by 13 inch MacBook Air while the big 15.6 inch Dell Inspiron settles at the fifth position. The latest Chromebook has amazing features which includes a 2GB RAM, an 11.6 inch display, and a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor. There are two variants of the Chromebook – Wi-Fi and 3G/Wi-Fi. Both feature in the Amazon best sellers list

According to Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi, she is not very sure if price has a role to play in the sales of the Chromebook.

Milanesi feels, “Consumers do not want to choose between apps and Internet; they want both. The $249 is certainly an interesting price point, but consumers have been burned with netbooks and will be cautious and look beyond the price tag.”

Netbooks have failed to impress the consumers. The Netbooks have smaller bodies and costs less but performs poorly in comparison to the laptops which are only marginally expensive. However it must be accepted that the consumers still have faith in Google’s ability to give a great product. The first batch of Chromebook has failed but the next update is performing quite well.

Google has not started the shipping of computers to the retailers; however consumers who pre- order will receive the device in six to ten days.

    Couple of things.

    1. Netbook comparison is invalid for the following reasons.

    a. They are very slow when running apps so how are they better exactly?.
    b. To use them you have to purchase software which in the case of Office will sharply increase the price.
    c. If you use google apps with a netbook there is no advantage over the chromebook.

    d. Keyboard experience on the chromebook seems better than netbooks (based on reviews)

    2. Laptop comparison is also not relevant.

    a. These are for people that already have a main machine.
    b. Laptops this small and light with good battery life are 3-4 times the cost. (Ultrabooks)
    c. Add Office and cost is even more insane.
    d. If used for Google apps the improved performance of the expensive laptop isn’t going to be an issue.

So, if you want to leave the bigger expensive PC at home and travel light without worrying so much about theft or breaking the thing then a chromebook may be a good option. (Good browsing experience, remote desktop to the PC, no PC software expense) At the very least they shouldn’t be compared with laptops and netbooks. The best comparison would be to a tablet/keyboard combination.

“According to Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi, she is not very sure if price has a role to play in the sales of the Chromebook.” ?? Then Carolina ain’t an analyst. Price is King.

Unless its an Apple product, then price is irrelevant.

I can’t wait to buy mine! I think this laptop is going to be amazing.
Although I see people complaining about Google and about size or speed, but at $249 it does everything I want it to!

They need to know how many to ship to each place. That’s why it’s called a “PRE” order.
Like a spoiled baby…I WANT IT NOW! WAHH

  • mgamerz

Too bad even google doesn’t know when anyone can sell them! I preordered mine like many others, and NOBODY has an actual release date.
