Amazon has unveiled its Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and has opened a keen tablet war. While most of the experts are talking about the effect of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 on the Apple products, very few are talking Microsoft Surface Windows 8 Tablet which is soon going to be introduced in the market and will be available in two models- Microsoft Surface RT and Microsoft Surface Pro. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is packed with the latest features and is sure to give the tablet manufacturers who are planning to launch heir tablet brands a run for their money. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 features highly improved display, and also has at its heart a highly advanced dual core processor TI OMAP 4470 which has been touted as better than NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 Quad core processor. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 will be available in two versions –The Wi-Fi and 4G LTE and will be available for sale from 20th November. How does it fare against the Microsoft Surface RT and Microsoft Surface Pro? Let us check out.
In June Microsoft unveiled its plan to introduce the Microsoft Surface RT and Microsoft Surface Pro. However the most crucial fact in the Tablet war will be the price and Microsoft has been erringly silent about this crucial aspect. However Microsoft had said that the price will be competitive with any ARM tablet and in all probability this was in context with the iPad 3 from Apple. However the introduction of the Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD 8.9 must have made it a complete ball game. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 will start at $299 and the 4G LTE wireless enabled model will be priced at $499. With this introduction Microsoft will have to deal with the price factor. Pressure on Microsoft will be immense to keep the price of its Microsoft Surface RT and Microsoft Surface Pro competitive to have a chance of surviving in a very competitive tablet market.
The Microsoft Surface RT and Microsoft Surface Pro will be considerably different from the Kindle Fire HD 8.9. For a start the Microsoft Surface RT and Microsoft Surface Pro will have a considerably large screen. The Microsoft Surface RT will have a 10.6 inch display which will be one of the biggest displays among all the contemporary tablets. The Microsoft Surface RT and Microsoft Surface keyboard cover is also said to be completely different from the existing tablets. Another differentiating factor between the two tablets would be that the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 will be ad supported and will feature sponsored screen savers with ad in the corners of the screen. The price which has been fixed by Amazon for its 4G enabled models of $499 will also give it a competitive edge to its competitors.
In addition, the Kindle Fire HD will be ad-supported, with sponsored screensavers (shown at right) and an ad in the corner of the home screen. The gist of this statement is that Amazon has pegged a price for its highly advanced featured tablets which is low and will require any introduction from Microsoft to be priced very low.
