It seems that this year is going to be a battle between iPad Mini and Kindle Fire 2. There was a time when iPad was the only tablet and people were calling all other tablets as iPad. But then Amazon introduced something called eReader, the Amazon Kindle which fits into everyone’s pocket easily and it ended up being the most sold product at Amazon.
The success of iPad was not only because it is an awesome tablet but also because it was an Apple product. However, the main reason for the success of Kindle was its price tag. It was easily affordable for less than $150 and was also offered at huge discounts at some stores, so it was affordable to a mass number of public including those who wanted to carry a comparatively smaller gadget.
It’s been just a couple of years now and within these 2 years there has been a number of tablets introduced in the market but none was able to compete against the iPad. However deep inside Apple seems to have some fear of competition because of its pricing so they are going to introduce a smaller tablet which is already being regarded as iPad Mini.
The smaller tablet will of course help them lower their price tag. The only strong competitor for Apple in the smaller tablets segment seems to be Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire 2 which is soon going to be released. This definitely seems to be an interesting fight because both the tablets will be priced almost in the same range and when it comes to features both the companies will try their best to woo the tablet lovers.
If sources are to be believed both Kindle Fire 2 and Mini iPad will be released coming month September and this will be a mouth watering fight. Amazon has their own market to sell whereas Apple has a wider range of fan following and also the fact iPhone 5 is going to be released beside’s iPad Mini might help in getting more attention than Kindle Fire 2.
Recently there was a report that Apple is manufacturing millions units of iPad Mini and it is expected to sell 4 million units every month starting September to January. And if both iPad Mini and Kindle Fire 2 will be priced almost the same then it is obvious that iPad Mini will be sold much higher than Kindle Fire 2. Amazon has to keep their pricing more attractive to attract more customers and bring in more sales as they have got competition in the smaller segment tablets now.
It is expected that iPad Mini will be priced somewhere around $249 to $299 where as the present Kindle Fire first generation is available at $199 at Amazon store.
