The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is the last update of the Jelly Bean series before the next Android version- the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will be released. The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean was first rolled out for Nexus devices and now it is being rolled out for the other devices. The latest in this series is Sony which began the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Upgrade for its Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, Z Ultra and SP.
Sony Xperia Z and ZL gets Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update
Sony has reportedly confirmed that a number of Xperia Devices will be getting the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates. Sony is also rumored to be in the process of making the Android 4.3 upgrades for other devices which are at present running on android 4.1 OS.
Sony is in the process of pushing the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for its Xperia Z and Xperia ZL users and the updates will be soon arriving to users of the above mentioned devices depending upon the country and carrier.
Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z gets Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update
In the same way Android 4.2.2 updates are expected to be released for devices such as Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z which are at present running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The Android 4.1 brings features like Project Butter, resizable widgets and Google Now. The Android 4.2 will include extra features such as and actionable notifications lock screen widgets and Quick Settings.
.Sony is also contemplating to directly upload Android 4.3 to many devices which are running on the Android 4.1 and skipping the Android 4.2 update.
According to Head of Software Product Management at Sony Mobile, Fredik Ekstrand, “Since we have Android 4.3 running on Xperia devices already now, our software developers can start to verify the Sony applications and other functionality directly on AOSP (Android Open Source Project). This makes it possible to start testing the features that are not dependent on QUALCOMM Technologies or Sony SW components against the new software release before the initial integration is finalized. Furthermore, we also get the chance to start the adaptation the different regions, networks and operators at the same time as we do the feature upgrade work,”
Android 4.3 software update for Sony devices includes some tweaks by Sony on the Vanilla Android version which includes features such as Lock screen, Home screen, and Phonebook. The tweaks by Sony also bring a number of applications such as Album app, WALKMAN app, and Movies app. It also features better messaging options, Quick setting, and Text input.
