Lenovo IdeaTab A3000 and A1000 Android tablets which were previewed at the Mobile World Congress in February are now available for pre-order on Lenovo’s website. Lenovo IdeaTab A3000 is priced at USD 229 while the cheaper A1000 is priced at USD 189. Pre-ordering the A1000 from Lenovo’s website will also entitle you to $40 discount bringing the effective price to USD 149. The coupon deal code for the $40 discount is “IDEADEAL”.
Both the tablets come with 7 inch LED display having resolution of 1024-by-600 pixels. The cheaper A1000 comes with a TN capacitive touch screen display which offers tighter viewing angles but it offers a 350 nit brightness which is good for such a price point. The processor is also different with the cheaper A1000 packing a powerful Mediatek MTK MT8317 dual core 1.2GHz processor while the costly A3000 strangely packing a less powerful and obsolete Mediatek MTK 6575 1.0 GHz Single core processor.
Both come with a 0.3 MP front camera and A3000 is also equipped with a 5 MP rear camera as well. Connectivity options are also same with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth. The only difference here is that the cheaper A1000 comes with Bluetooth 3.0 while the costly one comes with Bluetooth 4.0. Quite strangely the cheaper one also gives a more battery life endurance of 8 hours as compared to the 7 hours of A3000.
Both the tablets have 16 GB internal storage with 1 GB of RAM and both got MicroSD card expansion slot. Only A3000 is expected to support cards up to 64 GB, though. Both the tablets also got data syncing and charging micro USB port and run on latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. Strangely enough though, the cheaper one is also slightly lighter at 0.77 pounds while the costly one weight 0.8 pounds.
Looking at the price point, specifications and comparisons, the cheaper A1000 offers more bang for the buck unless you compulsorily require a rear camera. The tablets will start shipping four weeks from the date of pre-order and you can pre-order them at Lenovo website. The tablets offer a great affordable offering from Lenovo with the latest OS out of the box.
