Just when the Google Nexus 7 is running good in the market and a rumor was in the air that it may release another tablet naming Google Nexus 7.7; Google gave a good surprise to its users by announcing at Google I/O event that the manufacturer is very soon going to release a second generation of the Google Nexus 7! With this announcement Google has done something that it was never found doing, i.e., unveiling its launch and sales plans of its tablets in advance. The company says that the new tablet will be out in the stores in the second half of this year itself, and the estimated quantity of the device will be around six to eight million. Many of you would think that you could be the lucky one to receive a product from the house of Google.
According to the reports of the Google, it has already sold about 4.6 million Nexus 7s till date, which was released just in June last year. As the second generation, the new model of the tablet will definitely have quite noticeable enhancements and together with its release tablet in May Google is planning to reach a combined sales record of 10 million units in 2013.
Another reason for Google to think of a new Google device so promptly is its earning through advertisements. The revenue it earns from online advertising is simply huge, and with the launch of another Google device and its widespread popularity, the company will enlarge its earning. This is because, the more the users of Google Nexus tablets, the more exposure for Google’s ads!
A brief idea on the 2nd generation Google Nexus 7 can be drawn from the features that are likely to be found in the device:
Although most of the features will remain the same as are found in the current version, still there are some noteworthy improvements and the first feature to name in that category is the processor of the tablet. The second generation tablet will possibly feature a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 Quad core processor. This would be a new feature to be found in the device in place of the Nvidia Corp’s Tegra 3 that is used in the first Nexus 7.
The adaptation of Qualcomm’s processor in place of Nvidia’s is definitely a blow to the chipmaker as the duo is on cut-throat competition in the tablet PC world. According tone of the sources, it is basically the power reasons that have made Google opt for Qualcomm’s.
However, speaking about the Nexus 7 tablet, that was released last year, it has to be mentioned here that the device include a 1GB RAM.
In terms of the screen used in the second generation device as well, the users are to enjoy a bit enhancement because the tablet to be released will feature a full-HD display with a thinner bezel design. Although the size of the screen is expected to remain the same, i.e., 7 inch OGS (One Glass Solution), there will be, however, an enhancement in the resolution of the screen. The current tablet has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, but the upcoming tablet is to feature a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.
So, it can be summed up that the new tablet will only have the same sized display like the current Google Nexus 7 but the rest of the features of the display will differ.
Much is not leaked about the camera to be incorporated in the second generation tablet. So, you can expect to find the same camera quality as that of the presently found Google Nexus 7 which is a 1.2-megapixel front camera.
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS
The Google Nexus 7 second generation tablet will most probably feature Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, according to the leaked information by a trusted source. You will however, not find an improvement in the new device in the matters of the Operating System used as the same OS is found in the current version as well.
The battery to be found in the upcoming second generation device is hoped to remain the same as the current Google Nexus 7. So, this one too will feature an 4325 mAh battery and a similar battery back-up.
Last but not the least, the price of the new tablet is a must to know as after all, buying capacity of the buyers too matters. This will rather be good news for the aspiring buyers of the device that the second generation Google Nexus 7 will be priced the same as the earlier version and that will be between $199- $249. Stay tuned for updates!
