After Samsung launched Galaxy S4 with some pretty neat intelligent software features on top of Android version 4.2.2, rumors have also started pouring in for updates pending for Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3. Samsung announced both phones will get Android 4.2.2 and Android 5.0 as well. Recently the Korean giant also released Android 4.1.2 for international versions of Note 2 and for some local US carriers as well.
The latest rumors suggest that Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is scheduled in May/June. Samsung promised that many of the features of Galaxy S4 will come to Note 2 and Galaxy S3 as well, provided they are compatible with the hardware. Some features like Watch On (IR blaster for universal remote) and S Health (temperature and humidity sensors for health and surroundings monitoring) will have to be missed, but we long to experience face and eye tracking features Smart Scroll and Smart Pause on Note 2/Galaxy S3. Features like S Translator, Dual Camera, Sound and Shot are bound to come with this update and there will be plenty of copy apps on Google Play Store soon to bring these features to non-Samsung Smartphones as well.
Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.2 Update Features
It is a known fact from the past that these updates can be expected for international versions of Note 2/Galaxy S3 in time but the US versions will be dependent on the mercy of the carriers. Just like Samsung Galaxy S3 4.1.2 update arrived three months late in the US as compared to the UK and the premium suite of features has not yet made to any US versions, it is expected from US and UK users to keep patience as they might be in for a long wait.
It will be interesting to see what intelligent gestures Samsung can invent on Note 2 using fingers and stylus together via Air View. Along with Knox Enterprise security, it remains to be seen if Samsung will bring the multiple user support for Note 2, since Google released the stock update with support for tablets and it is high time we see the phablet Note 2 stands true to its name by enjoying the benefits of both phone and tablets.
We would like to see Samsung doing more with daydreaming, Photo Sphere camera and a major overhaul with TouchWiz with 4.2.2 update. What new features do you expect in your Note 2/Galaxy S3? Do you have an idea for a great new viable feature Samsung should bring with these updates? Let us know about your thoughts in the comments.
