The QWERTY keypad was the distinguishing feature of all BlackBerry phones and it was difficult for BlackBerry to ignore the diehard BlackBerry fans who adore the QWERTY keypad equipped BlackBerry Devices. BlackBerry has unveiled two smartphones in its BlackBerry 10 series, the Blackberry Z10 which is a touchscreen smartphone and the Blackberry Q10 which is a QWERTY keypad equipped smartphone.
BlackBerry is back with a bang and the BBZ10 and BBQ10 are going to give a stiff competition to the Android and the iOS devices.
However this time we look at the two devices in a completely different angle, not as siblings but as rivals. How does the BlackBerry Q10 fare against its more illustrious sibling the BlackBerry Z10.
The BlackBerry Q10 features the QWERTY key pad and it has been one of the key reasons for the success of the BlackBerry devices in the past. The BlackBerry Q10 is cozy to feel and comfortable to hold. The Keypad is ideal for those who like to email and text on the move. One of the most important features of the BBQ10 is the curved edges which makes the device very comfortable to carry around in the pocket. The phone is doubly secure with a tough Kevlar coating, the same Kevlar that is used to make Bullet Proof vests.
The BlackBerry Z10 on the other hand has all the finesse and looks of a premium smartphone. It is taller and wider than the iPhone but looks very lithe and sleek. The curved edges make it comfortable to hold and keep in the pocket.
The BlackBerry Z10 seduces with its soft looks, the BBQ10 dominates with its QWERTY key pad.
The BlackBerry Z10 with its larger screen and better resolution is a clear winner here. The screen of the BlackBerry Q10 has been made small to accommodate the QWERTY key pad. The Q10 boasts a 3.1-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels and a pixel density of 328ppi. The Blackberry Q10 will endear itself to users who prefer a smaller screen and a full keyboard.
The BlackBerry Z10 has a 4.2 inch screen and it boasts a resolution of 1280 x 728 pixels. The BlackBerry Z10 clearly bears upon the BlackBerry Q10 with its large screen with better picture clarity and sharpness.
Both the devices feature a Dual Core Processor with a rating of 1.5 GHz processing power. Both the devices run on the newly erected BlackBerry 10 OS platform which has some of the best security features and makes the device a hot favorite of the Secret Service in the US.
Again both the devices feature equally endowed storage capacity which 16 GB internal and a 2GB RAM. Options to augment the storage capacity further are available with the provision of the microSD card.
The BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry Q10 runs on the new BlackBerry 10 OS. The OS platform boasts of effortless gesture controls, swipes and a smooth BlackBerry Flow. The OS makes multitasking effortless and it features an ever increasing list of apps in its inventory.
Both the devices feature the same camera specifications, a 8MP primary camera with advanced features such as LED flash, auto focus, geo tagging, image stabilization, face detection. The camera boasts a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels and also has video recording capabilities. The BlackBerry Z10 has a 2MP front facing camera which is also capable of recording 720p video at 30fps. The Blackberry Q10 features a simple secondary snapper.
There are no clear winners here. The question boils down to one point-What the consumer wants? If he prefers a smaller screen and also wants the QWERTY key pad, the BlackBerry Q10 is the best choice. BlackBerry Z10 will endear to those persons who love the touchscreen and also want a better secondary camera to make video calls.
