This month will see another premium smartphone being added to the increasing list of smartphone market. The Sony Xperia Z is all set to hit the European retail shelves on February 21st. Besides Germany the device will be available in other European countries. The initial supplies will arrive at the online retailers by the 28th of February and the stores have started taking pre-orders. The unlocked Sony Xperia is available for £522.00, at Clove in U.K. The device will also come with a free wireless speaker. The device will be available at Negri in the US for a price tag of $722. The exact date for the device to be available has not been disclosed by Negri.Phones4U is a very popular and independent retailer in Europe and it has also started accepting pre orders. The device will be available at the above stores from the 28th of February.
There has been no news about which carriers will feature the device in its inventory. AT&T is one of the carrier which regularly featured Sony devices in its inventory and it is believed that the latest Sony Smartphone will feature in its inventory.
With the Xperia Z, Sony is making a last ditch effort to find a foothold in the smartphone segment. However the billion dollar question is whether it can outsell the devices from the established leaders in the Smartphone market. There is a string of high end devices which are lined up for release in the coming months. This includes the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5S. Then there is the BlackBerry Z10 as well as the BlackBerry 10 OS platform. The going will not be easy for Sony.
