Windows 8 has taken a severe beating in the media and right from its day when it was released; it was subjected to a series of hard hitting and unwarranted, negative media coverage. However in a recent interview Acer President Jim Wong has termed the Windows 8 as an excellent OS and consumers must be given some time to get accustomed.
Mr. Wong said, “Windows 8 is a major milestone for 2012, but it is also a new system that consumers must learn and the learning process will prevent the operating system from taking off quickly. However, many of the concerns and criticisms concerning Windows 8 have been rather unfair.”

There is a saying that habits are hard to form and also hard to be removed. The consumers have been so used to the earlier Windows OS; they find it extremely weird to see a Metro based OS. Mr. Wong seems right when he says that people should get accustomed to the new OS and then judge it rather than just turning it away as inferior to the earlier versions. The latest OS from Microsoft is based on Metro or what has been rechristened as Live Tiles. The Windows 8 uses a completely new interface and it is surprising how it was viewed with so much pessimism.
