The rumors about Samsung Galaxy S4 are getting hotter with each passing day. Internal news from sources of SamMobile says that Samsung is already working on next generation Galaxy S device and calling it “Project J” and trying out various technological advancement to make Galaxy S4 a major breakthrough in mobile technology.
The rumors are suggesting that Samsung will launch Galaxy S4 at the special event in the month of April, next year. Recently a report has released which indicated that Samsung’s Galaxy S4 has already shown up in the Nenamark 2 benchmark database. The results of the Samsung’s GT-19400 were seen in Nenamark 2 and this led to speculations that it is the S4.
The results reveal that the GT-19400 uses a 1.2GHz processor and comes with a screen with a resolution of 480 x 800. The GPU is said to be an ARM Mali-400, as per Sam Mobile which was the first to report these results. This is because it may be the starting prototype to test the new design and features which Galaxy S4 is going to feature in the final build which is expected to witness by market in second quarter of 2013.
The display screen is currently the most talked about spec of Galaxy S4. It is expected that it will feature Full HD OLED displays which are going to be highly power efficient and unbreakable. The South Korean gadget manufacturer is already working on prototypes of flexible OLED displays and expecting to start mass production of devices featuring such screens in 2013, ahead of all other companies like Sony, Nokia, LG, and Apple which are also working on the same technology.
Samsung has already started manufacturing displays having resolution of 1920×1080 pixel with a pixel density of 441ppi, which is more powerful than Apple’s Retina display. These displays are featured in HTC’s Droid DNA currently.
“Looking to the first half of 2013, we see evidence of Samsung likely accelerating the release of the Galaxy S IV – compared with May (this year) for the Galaxy S III,” said UBS analyst Nicolas Gaudois. “We believe preparations for volume manufacturing of unbreakable plastic substrate displays continue. All in all, we could see a strong products push in the high-end in the first half, followed by other releases.”
Samsung is making prototype screens of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display by replacing glass substrate with plastic material which could make mobile gadgets displays flexible as well as unbreakable.
“Eventually, they’ll have unbreakable and flexible displays. Either the Galaxy S IV or S V will have unbreakable and even possibly flexible and foldable displays by 2014. That’s going to be a game-changer,” said Mark Newman, an analyst at Stanford Bernstein in Hong Kong.
It is expected that Samsung will show 4.99-inch Full HD 1080p display screens at CES 2013 next month. And smartphones featuring the same a month later at MWC 2013.
Rumored Report on Samsung Galaxy S4 13 Megapixel 3D Camera
The other reported rumor is suggesting that Samsung Galaxy S4 will feature a 13 megapixel primary camera with capabilities to capture photos and videos in 3D. The pictures and videos can later be viewed on any standard 3D HDTVs.
A comment from an insider stated, “We are trying to develop a mobile camera which can capture moments in 3D so that you can relive your moments with the help of best technology available. This is going to be a major breakthrough innovation happened to smartphone industry in ages, and innovation is what we do at Samsung.”
A 13-megapixel sensor would be capable of capturing images with 4208 x 3120 resolution. This kind of camera would require extra processing power and RAM to give a lagging free operation. So, Samsung is planning to feature the Exynos 5450 chipset with 8-core Cortex-A15 CPU cloaked at 2.0 GHz backed up by 2.5 GB of RAM. Galaxy S4 will corporate a thinner on-board memory chip of 64GB to reduce the thickness of smartphone as well. In fact, the leak suggested that Samsung’s Galaxy S4 would be the thinnest Galaxy smartphone ever.
