According to the reports of Strategy Analytics, Samsung has sold 18 million units of Galaxy S3 for the last quarter whereas Apple has sold 16.2 million iPhone 4S and 6 million iPhone 5 in the same quarter.
This states to 10.7% share of the global smartphone market for the GS3 compared to the 9.7 percent of the iPhone 4S.
Neil Shah, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics, said, “Samsung’s Galaxy S3 smartphone model shipped 18.0 million units worldwide during the third quarter of 2012. The Galaxy S3 captured an impressive 11 percent share of all smartphones shipped globally and it has become the world’s best-selling smartphone model for the first time ever. A large touchscreen design, extensive distribution across dozens of countries, and generous operator subsidies have been among the main causes of the Galaxy S3’s success. Apple shipped an estimated 16.2 million iPhone 4S units worldwide for second place, as consumers temporarily held off purchases in anticipation of a widely expected iPhone 5 upgrade at the end of the quarter.”
Samsung announced selling 30 million units of Galaxy S3 worldwide few days ago on its official FB page to show the glory of its flagship Android Smartphone to the world. Samsung also reported 9% increase in the sales of Galaxy S3 every month even after the release of Apple iPhone 5 and many other new smartphones in the market which is quite impressive.
This can be because of the price cut down of Galaxy S3 after the launch of Nexus 4 by Google recently. It is available for $99 with two year service contract offered by AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon on Amazon Wireless. AT&T is even selling the refurbished Galaxy S3 on its online store for $149.99 with two year service agreement.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is available in six vibrant colors – Marble White, Pebble Blue, Amber Brown, Garnet Red, Sapphire Black, and Titanium Grey. Whereas the iPhone 5 is available in two color schemes only. The more color choices are also a factor in increasing number of sales of Galaxy S3 overseas and in US as well.
